The “Stop the Bleed” training is an interdisciplinary lecture and panel presentation designed to educate a general audience on the critical skills needed to control life-threatening bleeding. This education provides everyone with new advances and techniques which will allow someone to respond to emergency situations involving major lacerations and blood loss. Examples of traumatic events are falls, biking and hiking accidents, school shootings and natural disasters. Berry students and campus visitors are heavily involved in outdoor activities, all which can lead to accidents resulting in major lacerations and blood loss. We have many remote areas on campus, and even main campus locations can take 15 min for EMS to reach. Having community members educated to "Stop-the Bleed" is proven to be life saving. This education has been shown to be the difference between life and death. The session will feature a combination of lecture and hands-on demonstrations, making it accessible and engaging for participants from every background.
