Join staff from Oak Hill & The Martha Berry Museum for a pop-up display in Krannert Center to learn about a special topic from Berry's past! This month, we'll be discussing Martha Freeman (184?-1951). Martha Freeman held a variety of roles in the Berry household such as cook, laundress, and the children’s caretaker. Accounts suggest that she was close to Martha Berry’s mother, Frances Rhea, and was considered “next-of-kin” by the family. After the passing of her husband, Martha Freeman moved into a former schoolhouse behind the Oak Hill home where she lived until her death.

Stop by during lunch to grab a treat and learn about Martha Freeman's impact on Martha Berry and on the early days at Berry!
