Live-Tweeting the 18th Century: On the Importance of Noticing
Scott Huler, recipient of MIT's Knight Fellowship in Science Journalism, is the author of A Delicious Country: Rediscovering the Carolinas Along the Route of John Lawson's 1700 Expedition (University of North Carolina Press, 2019) and a half dozen other books that blend journalism with science or sports. As a sign of the broad-based interest his lecture will cultivate, the event is co-sponsored by ERW, History, Communication, as well as the Deans of the Evans School and the School of Math and Natural Sciences. He will discuss the way he used social media to promote the book during his months-long journey retracing the route of John Lawson's 1700 expedition through the Carolinas, during which time he was joined on various parts of the journey by historians, ecologists, and other specialists.
