IMPRESS(I)ON (invitational group exhibition)
IMPRESS(I)ON is a survey of printmaking methods by artists from around the country. Prints usually are images made in multiples through an indirect transfer process such as a block of wood, a copper plate, or fine mesh fabric. Cutting away portions of the block, making incisions in the plate, or blocking out portions of the mesh fabric allows for ink to be rolled, impressed, or pushed through to create an image on a surface such as paper or fabric. This show presents traditional printmaking methods such as relief, etching, lithography, and silkscreen that are sometimes used in unconventional ways, such as installations that engage with the space of the gallery and the viewer.
