Dr. Tracey L. Papenfuss, D.V.M., Ph.D. (Immunology), D.A.C.V.P., will present a lecture titled From Alaska’s Wild Frontiers to the Front Lines of Medicine: A Journey Through Wildlife Biology, Veterinary Science, and Biomedical Drug Discovery. This event will offer students and faculty a rare opportunity to learn from a leading expert whose career spans wildlife research, veterinary pathology, and cutting-edge immunotoxicology. Currently a Principal Pathologist and Immunotoxicology Scientific Advisor at MPI Research, Dr. Papenfuss brings more than 15 years of highly specialized experience in immunology, immunopathology, and preclinical safety assessment. Her work focuses on integrating complex data sets to understand how novel therapies influence the immune system, a critical component of evaluating emerging immunomodulatory treatments. She previously served as Director of an immunopathology and early discovery immunotherapeutics laboratory at The Ohio State University and worked as a pathologist in preclinical safety assessment at Charles River Laboratories. This lecture will provide valuable insight into the evolving landscape of immunotoxicology and drug discovery, highlighting the importance of cross-disciplinary expertise and collaborative research. It will be especially beneficial for students interested in immunology, veterinary science, biomedical research, or careers within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology fields.
