About this Event
View mapDancing at Lughnasa is a memory play told by Michael Evans as he recounts the summer when he was a young child living with his aunts in a cottage in Ireland in 1936. Kate, Maggie, Agnes, Rosie and Christina are unmarried sisters struggling to make ends meet when their brother Jack, a priest who has lived as a missionary in Uganda, returns and seems to have abandoned his Catholic ways. A radio that only works intermittently leads the women into sudden outbursts of dancing. The moral tension is exacerbated when financial ruin hits the family.
