Berry College Wind Ensemble Presents an Evening of Music Written by Women Composers
About this Event
This performance highlights wind band works written by female composers. Of particular note is the piece Adoration, written by Florence Price. Price is considered the first African American female composer to have a symphony performed by a major orchestra. The program will include extensive information about each composer and piece of music, including why it is of serious artistic merit. Women composers remain significantly underrepresented in wind band repertoire. This concert will help women students in the concert ensemble and audience engage in the music differently through representation conveyed by the music.
