Amahl and the Night Visitors

Amahl and the Night Visitors is a classical holiday opera that tells the story of humanity and the Magi through the eyes of the title character, Amahl, a young crippled boy. Well known stage director Sarah Jane Pelzer, puts into words beautifully the following about the opera. “We see a big journey as Amahl understands his own potential and his Mother understands the importance of letting him go. With both majestic and campy moments, this story is beautiful, fun and very human.” (vancouveropera.ca) This opera continues to encompass a number of themes that are still relevant today; from faith, and perseverance, to charity when Amahl and his mother, who have very little share with the Magi passing through on their way to the Christ child.
